Nina Bachinsky–Gimmel


For most of her career, Nina worked in Manhattan within the top NYC kitchens of Union Square Cafe, Le Bernardin, and the Royalton Hotel. At Café M of the Stanhope Hotel she undertook the position of pastry chef. Her culinary style evolved with modern American cuisine emphasizing the pure flavors of local ingredients, carefully presented to playfully tantalize the palate.

An enthusiast of artisanal food and wine, Nina with husband Jeff, spent a few months learning to make sheep’s milk cheese at Old Chatham Sheepherding Company and then traveled to New Zealand learning a bit about viniculture with Clive Paton, winemaker and owner of Ata Rangi Vineyards.

They spent 2000-2002 as co-owners of the catering company Le Potager in Nantucket Massachusetts, mentioned in Food & Wine magazine.

Nina has returned to her roots in the Hudson Valley with Jeff to open Swoon Kitchenbar.
